Hello! My name is Dawson Panter-Wray and I am a freelance Technical Lighting Designer / AV Technician working in and around Somerset in the UK. Despite being only 18 years old I already have over 5 years of experience in the events industry. It all started when the opportunity arose for me to design the lighting for my secondary schools musicals 5 years ago which have continued to grow in scale and I have continued to work on ever since. Since then, I have completed my A Levels and am now moving onto working on obtaining a Level 4 Professional Diploma in Lighting Design & Operation in Bristol.
I have worked on a variety of shows, both concerts and theatre style (and still am deciding which I prefer!) being fortunate enough to have contacts in the industry already has given me many, great early opportunities to provide myself with a diverse skillset. In the past few years, I have also set up my own company providing technical services to small to medium scale events, particularly in schools and smaller venues. We now have a stock of equipment which can be hired out as part of a hire for any event.
Feel free to contact me either via my email or social media platforms for any questions regarding potential future work, or anything you have seen me involved in, and I will always be happy to try and answer to the best of my ability.
I am someone who loves to be a problem-solver, if I come across something which doesn’t have a clear solution, I always endevaour to try and create one! This can be seen through my projects so far including creating encoder and level wheel boxes to aid with ETC EOS programming, and remote control sockets (and many other projects which I just haven’t documented yet)
I also have a strong interest in DJing which although being different to an event technician role, does have some similarities in regards to the technical knowledge required to run an event smoothly.
I am fully covered with Public Liability Insurance for Freelance technical event work for up to £10,000,000 – I can provide this upon request if necessary.
